Aquarium Remodeling
Since March 2011 the Key West Aquarium has been under going a face lift.
Remodeling of the entry way to the aquarium.
A new entry way to the aquarium is just about completed. Atlantic Shores has a new deck making it wheel chair accessible. Our famous Touch Tank will not be spared from the construction, it too will receive a new look. The Florida Keys Community College Ceramic Department will be donating most of their time and supplies in the renovation of this exhibit. We will post updates as they move forward.
Something New
We are adding a new environmental awareness and educational area in the aquarium called, “Neptune’s Nook”. This room will house different interactive displays concerning reef ecology, recycling, sea turtle conservation, shark ecology and more.
Getting our Skype On
Skype Interactive Tours is another project we are working on for this coming school season. Most schools around the country are not able to make the trip to the aquarium so we have brought to them through Skype. These tours will allow groups of all ages the ability to interact with our tour guides as they learn about the Florida Keys ecosystems.
