“The Learning Cove” Opening August 2011

The Key West Aquarium welcomes its newest exhibit, “The Learning Cove.” This exhibit is packed full of information concerning the conservation and ecology of our marine environment. Some of the exhibits include,
“
Shark Awareness“ many misconceptions about sharks and this causing human fear.
“Florida Keys Reef” our island chain we call the Florida Keys is home to the continental United States only natural reef. Learn how we can preserve this delicate ecosystem.
“Protecting Sea Turtles” All sea turtles are protected by state and federal law and yet there are some countries that still allow the sale of sea turtle products. Learn how we can all help no matter where we live.
“Marine Mammals” most of our guest that visit Key West may have a close encounter of the “Mammal Kind” as they snorkel or boat our waters. What are the do’s and don’ts when it comes to these encounters and why?
All of these new exhibits in the Learning Cove play a short educational video and display very important information based on that particular exhibit.
Opening the first week in August 2011, we hope that the Learning Cove becomes a great hit with children and parents alike.
