The CAST of the Key West Aquarium was presented the coveted HTA. This is the first time that this award is to be given to a group of people. The H.T.A. Entertainment, Service, and People (E.S.P.) Award is presented to an individual (in this case a CAST) who have gone beyond their normal call of duty in their given field of endeavor.

This group of passionately motivated individuals have pooled their talents and accomplished a miracle transformation of a well worn aquarium of the 1930’s to a stellar and most colorful, educational exhibition of aquatic wildlife. Not only are the exhibits themselves undergoing restoration, but the interaction of the CAST and animals with our guests have been dramatically improved with the addition of Sting Ray Bay, the interactive ray exhibit; an improved touch tank; the selection of young guests to help the tour guide feed the creatures; and the walk around exhibition of the turtles, Burmese python, and alligators, which allow the touching, holding, and a picture opportunity with these exotic animals.

Their combined efforts, reaching above and beyond the normal duty description and boundaries hereto achieved by the Aquarium staff has thereby earned them this distinguished award of Historic Tours of America. Our congratulations and thanks to all the Aquarium CASTmembers for this achievement.
